A native of New Port Richey, Dr. Melissa Nurrenbrock has spent her career in education, teaching at every level from preschool to college and earning a Doctorate of Education. Before coming to Genesis School, she combined her love of education and travel by holding teaching and administrative positions in Costa Rica, Alaska, and Hawaii. Dr. Melissa Nurrenbrock has been the head of Genesis Schools since 1981. She has served as President of The Florida Kindergarten Council and on the Board of Directors of The Florida Council of Independent Schools, Florida’s premier accrediting association.
My name is Steve Weller, and I am the Principal of the Lower School of Genesis
Preparatory School. I joined the Genesis family in 2016 as Assistant Principal. At the
beginning of the 2018-2019 school year, I had the honor of being named Principal of
the Preschool and Elementary divisions.
I am originally from Maryland where I served 30 years as an educator. I was in the
classroom as a High School English teacher before moving into administration as an
Assistant Principal. This experience has given me valuable perspective in both roles.
My wife, Kari, and I have lived in New Port Richey for several years. When I am not
working with our students, I enjoy playing tennis and spending time with my family.
I am looking forward to a great school year. Go Panthers!
Ms. Fevriette, a native of the beautiful Caribbean Island of St Lucia, has over 34 years of teaching experience, teaching Science, Math, Computer Science and Information Technology to grades 6 -12 in St Lucia, USVI and Florida in both public and private schools. She also has three (3) years of experience as a High School Assistant Principal at the Corinth Secondary School in St Lucia and has been the Principal of Genesis Preparatory School from August of 2019. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados, a Master of Science Degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Waterloo, Canada and a Diploma in Education in the teaching of Mathematics and Information Technology from the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, St Lucia.
A Florida native, Mrs. Fonnotto has been part of the Genesis Family since she was a
student at Genesis Elementary School. She proudly became part of Genesis Generations when
she brought her two children to Genesis to give them the same foundation and quality education
that she received as a student. Mrs. Fonnotto’s entire career in education has been spent at
Genesis. She taught Fifth Grade for thirteen years, and she now holds the position of Vice
Principal. Mrs. Fonnotto earned a Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of South Florida and a
Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Lynn University. Mrs. Fonnotto’s passion and
love for Genesis are unparalleled. She knows how to bring teams of teachers, parents, and
students together to achieve each student’s and family’s personal goals but also the school’s
goals as well. Mrs. Fonnotto is excited about the future of Genesis Preparatory School.
She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados, a Master of Science Degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Waterloo, Canada and a Diploma in Education in the teaching of Mathematics and Information Technology from the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, St Lucia.
Her teaching philosophy is founded on her love of Math and Science and her belief that every child can learn but each child learns differently. This therefore means as a teacher she creates a learning environment for her students that caters to their individual ways of learning and where students are motivated to learn.
Mrs. Swartz is a native of Epping, New Hampshire. She moved to Florida and has lived in the Tampa Bay area since she was 15 years old.
She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from the University of South Florida. Following graduation, she worked as a Billing Representative for Xerox Capital Services.
Mrs. Swartz has been with Genesis Schools as our Bookkeeper since 2014. For four years, she worked at our West Preschool Campus. She joined the Genesis Preparatory School staff in 2019 as the Administrative Assistant. She continues to serve both the GPS and Genesis Schools!
Brett Reese is a native of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. He graduated from James Madison University in 2016, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and was a member of the club golf team. He has 3 years of experience in Los Angeles as a Physical Education coach for elementary schools, and as a YMCA youth sports coach. Brett is passionate about sports and physical fitness. He believes it is important for students to be physically active and is committed to helping students develop healthy habits. He is also an avid tennis player and runner.
Sra Moser is originally from Colombia, South America. She graduated with a B.A. in languages from the Pontifical Bolivariana University in Medellin, the city where she is from. She also has a minor in translation in French, Spanish and English. She belongs to a couple of associations: AATSP (American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese) and ACTL (American Council of Teaching Languages). She has participated in several seminars and courses dealing with education and teaching of a foreign language. Before moving to the U.S.A., Sra Moser was an English Teacher at Marymount School in her hometown, and also worked as a professor at the University she graduated from. She loves teaching, but also loves to spend time with family and friends. She has been at Genesis for the past 20 years, working at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Sra Moser considers the Genesis Schools her second home!
Mr. Brian Trumble is a Florida Native, having spent most of his life in Pasco County. He has earned a fine arts degrees from Jacksonville University, as well as a Master’s in Creative Writing from the University of Tampa. Mr. Trumble has several years of experience teaching students of all ages. At Genesis, he teaches English as well as History. Writing of all varieties is an immense passion of his, and he looks forward to helping students develop not only a good eye for critical reading, but also exemplary writing skills.
A native of Tampa, Florida, Ms. Wall graduated from Florida State University with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology and her Master of Science Degree in Neuroscience. In her graduate studies she found a passion for teaching through her work in outreach. Ms. Wall frequented local Leon and Wakulla County middle and high schools to teach students about neuroscience in fun and engaging ways and encouraged them to participate in more scientific extracurricular events. She was also integral in large scale outreach events for her academic program including Brain Fair (a yearly event in which kids of all ages participated in interactive learning experiences lead by graduate students to learn about the brain, the sensory systems, and the ways in which scientific research is conducted) and Brain Bee (the regional component of an international neuroscience trivia competition involving weekly reviews and a large scale test day). Ms. Wall also participated in local events such as the Tallahassee Science Festival and the North Florida Regional Science fair.
Ms. Wall’s teaching philosophy revolves around her passion for scientific literacy and her understanding of different learning approaches. She emphasizes an interactive and exciting approach to learning wherever possible to keep students engaged and interested, with the ultimate goal of getting students to ask creative and original questions about the world around them.
Tina Jenkins is originally from Williamsport, Pennsylvania. She loves to travel back to Pennsylvania where her and her husband grew up and still have many family members. She graduated in 1985 with Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education K-12 from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Jenkins has been an Art/PE teacher since 1985. She came to Genesis in August of 1996. She has had her own art pieces hanging in places such as local and state museums, and Smithsonian in Washington D.C. Mrs. Jenkins now takes pride in entering her students art work in many local and regional shows and competitions, where they continue to receive many awards and recognitions.
Board of Trustees
The purpose of the Board of Trustees is to create a college preparatory school for middle and upper division students in Pasco County. The Board of Trustees agreed to assume the following responsibilities of an independent school governing body:
- To organize and manage itself so as to fulfill its duties to the school
- To plan, develop, and establish policy and assess the performance of the school
- To be responsible for the school’s financial condition and physical plant
- To select the Head of School and work cooperatively with that person
